Laupahoehoe

Instead of retracing our steps to return home, we decided to go north along the coast before cutting back across the island.  It was the kind of drive where if we saw something interesting we'd stop and enjoy.  A lookout point showed us Laupahoehoe Point.  It was raining hard enough I couldn't get a good sense of what was down there, but the colors looked fantastic.  So as we passed a small country road that read, "Laupahoe Point," we took it.  It was a crazy, winding road down the shoreline and a small park.  The boat ramp was just beautiful; the greys, the greens, the blues, all contrasted so well.  I couldn't believe it when my whole family took up this observation pose. Picture time!

There were huge cement blocks that had once been part of a boat ramp, but now were kind of cast aside and forgotten.  They made great viewing platforms to watch the waves crash however.

The view across the bay.

After Laupahoehoe we passed over green gorges with waterfalls and rivers below us and found what seemed to be a hidden green valley along the side of the road.  It was a very pretty drive.
