Playing with baby brother

Adjusting to three kids has been as difficult as everyone warned me it would be.  Juggling three kids' schedules and needs is suddenly really tricky.  The only way I'm able to accomplish anything is to simply ignore one or two children while I deal with the others, and then switch.  One morning while I was brushing Cambrie's hair and effectively ignoring McKenzie and Kelton, I was pleased to only hear the occasional grunt from Kelton.  I considered the situation under control and finished brushing Cambrie's hair.  When I was done I glanced over to see what McKenzie and Kelton had been doing to entertain themselves for those few short minutes, and laughed out loud when I saw this.

McKenzie had interpreted Kelton's grunts as crying and was trying desperately to make him happy.  She gave him every baby toy she could find and even used some as dress-ups...he has a crown.  I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the joy Kelton is going to experience as baby brother.

Boating at Utah Lake

The day after Lagoon, the girls went to Utah Lake for some boating fun.  They couldn't wait to jump in the water to go swimming...until they found out there were fish in the lake.  Cambrie said that a fish swam by and tickled her toes.  She thought it felt funny.  McKenzie said a fish swam by her too but she was not as excited.  She jumped onto Dantley for a ride so the fish wouldn't touch her again.

Judging from the pictures, it looks like the girls had mixed reactions about riding in the tube too.  In Cambrie's pictures her face is all smiles as she's screaming around a turn.  Her thumbs must have been getting tired from telling Bruce to go faster, and faster and faster!

It brings joy to my heart to see that G on the mountain.

McKenzie on the other hand did not like the water splashing in her face.  Most of her pictures show her with her thumbs telling the driver to slow down!

When you put the girls together, they had a hard time agreeing.

There was plenty of time for playing on the boat too.

Cambrie described this as "getting some sun."

McKenzie liked being on flag patrol.

And Dantley was able to deliver some late birthday gifts for Cambrie.

Goofy kids! (Yes, all three of them).

They watched the boys "surfboard".

And Cambrie decided she can't wait to try.  There were no skis or boards small enough for her, so they just pulled her with the rope instead.  I'm can't wait for her to learn too!

On the way home they were pretty pooped.  But never fear, they still had a drive-in movie to go to later with Parker and Kora!  Oh summertime :)

Lagoon

While Kelton, Jeremy and I spent that first week trying to get to know each other, the girls headed out to Utah to play with Nana and Papa.  The pictures I have seen show that the girls had one of the most amazing weeks ever.  For example, Lagoon with Parker and Kora!  What kid doesn't love high-flying, crazy-spinning, stomach-dropping fun?  Cambrie even had some bonus fun...she was tall enough for the big coasters like Colossus!  But I'm getting ahead of myself.  Let's start at the beginning.

When I pulled up this picture I was reminded about all of those brown-bag lunches we would take to Lagoon.  I asked Cambrie, "Are your lunches in those coolers?"  She replied, "No, just snacks."  Wow!  That is definitely a fun way to keep your energy levels up at Lagoon.

Another fun way to keep up your energy levels...slurpees at 10:00 AM.  Those kids were in heaven.

They were stamped then off to have fun.

"Parker was my buddy.  We each had to have a buddy so we wouldn't get lost.  Parker is a really good map reader."

Cambrie looked through these pictures with me and named every ride without hesitation.  Red Rock Rally.  "This one was fun because we would go FAST around the turns and then slow.  FAST, then slow"

The Whale. "Parker and I had special seats because ours started out really high."

The pirate ship.  "The other kids went on this one a lot more than I did because I was with Papa.  But it was fun because we all got to sit together."

The Dragon.  "This one was SO much fun!  You would go backwards, then forwards and get squished in your seat!"  McKenzie, "Ya.  I got squished a lot.  I liked going backwards."

The tea cup. "You spun that circle to go faster."

The ladybug. "We would go up and then it would drop you.  Then it took you up and spun you."  McKenzie, "I liked going up and down, up and down, up and down."  From Leesa's report, this was McKenzie's favorite ride and her hands were often in the air.

The octopus.  McKenzie, "I didn't like the octopus.  Water would fall on my head and I didn't know where it came from."

Cambrie and Parker loved the water they were splashed with.

The dragonfly.  "The seats were TEAL mom!  It was fun, but not as fun as the red swings..."

The red swing.  "They swung you soooo high!"

Lagoon cars. "I didn't ride on these ones because I was riding the roller coaster that took you upside down!  It was so much fun.  I also went on roller coaster that went straight up and straight down.  I didn't really like going straight down, it was scary.  But the loop-de-loops on the Colossus were fun.  I'm so glad I was tall enough to ride on the big rides."  (As a side note, Jeremy and I were very jealous we didn't get to go on the big rides too).

And to top it off, the sky coaster, a Lagoon classics.

From all accounts it sounds like everyone had a great time.

When it came time to go...none of the kids wanted to go.  They either had too much sugar or too much adrenaline in them and weren't tired by the end of the day.  None of the adults expected them to last that long and had to use some heavy persuasion to get them to leave.  I would call that a successful day at Lagoon.  The girls are already asking when they get to go back.

Splash Pad

One warm and sunny Utah summer day, Leesa took the girls to a splash pad.  Judging by the pictures, it looks like they had a really good time.  I will try to include some of the captions the girls shared with me when we went through the pictures.

"It tickled my toes."

"We were in a water mushroom!"

"The water kept splashing my eyes, I couldn't keep them open."

"I tried!"

Kenzie: "Our faces got squished."   Cambrie:  "No they didn't.  We were in jail!"

"We were playing tag.  We ran all over!"

"I didn't want Parker to get me!"

"I was trying to pick Parker up.  I wanted him to go up the slide."

"No hands!"

Happy cousins!
