Our first day in San Diego was spent at Sea World. I had no idea what to expect. I just remember the shows being a lot of fun so we tried to see as many of those as possible, but other than that we just went with the flow. When we entered the park we found Sesame Street zone where they had rides Kelton's size. We all rode with him just so he had his chance of a few thrills before the day was over.
Even Daxton joined us, though it wasn't quite what he had hoped for.
Our first show of the day was the dolphin show. Jeremy arrived late enough that the only seats available were right up front in the splash zone. I though, "Hey, it can't really be that bad, right?"
Ha! We were soaked! Those dolphins can really splash! The kids were all running around screaming but finding nowhere safe and dry to go. Daxton was screaming uncontrollably, and Jeremy and I were laughing our heads off. I had to take Daxton up a few rows, but by then he had been traumatized enough. Hey, we had a good time. I think it was my favorite moment of the whole day.
We wandered through the park and found Manta, the roller coaster ride, which ended up being a huge hit for all of us who were tall enough. We found the orca presentation, which wasn't as exciting at the dolphin's show, but still informative. A new stadium is being built for the orcas, so in the meantime their presentations are in a smaller observation area. Those are large animals.

The sea lion show was hysterical! It was a collection of comedy skits performed by the three trainers, two sea lions, an otter, and an emcee. The humor was funny enough that even the boys understood what was going on and were laughing. I'm glad Jeremy caught some of it on film because it was too good to forget.
We found a place for lunch, and filled our bellies with delicious wraps and smoothies, then headed off to the aquariums.
The aquariums were Daxton's favorite part. He wasn't being splashed, but he could still see all the animals up close.
This magnifying glass was really cool. My kids look a big distorted from here don't they? They thought it was hilarious.
For some reason, Kelton loved the beluga whale the most. I have a feeling it has something to do with his appearance in Finding Dory. It was pretty neat though.
We saw sharks.
We saw turtles.
We saw penguins. Cambrie thought that the penguin with hair, braids, and ribbons, was the most outrageous one of all!
We saw a mermaid.
We saw starfish (real ones, and this statue)
We found a couple more rides, none of which Kelton was tall enough for.
But he's ready to go surfing apparently!
The river raft trip was a rough one for Cambrie. She ended up riding right through the waterfall and was drenched!
Atlantis ended up being nearly the last ride of our day-and the girls and I were soaked. We drove home soggy because of that splash.
On our way out we found the free play zone. Oh wow, we chose the wrong path out of there. The kids went crazy climbing on the netting, bouncing on the mats, running through gladiator bumpers, and crawling through tubes. So much for our quick exit. We even lost each kid at least once. The kids could have spent hours in that zone alone.
Then our day was done. One last picture in front of the entrance was only somewhat successful, but it proved we were all there. Wet and all.
Trying to warm up on a strangely warm section of our floor at home.
