(I know, this picture doesn't show her smile. She won't let us open her mouth long enough for a picture and her tongue gets in the way. I just thought it was too cute not to share.)

First Tooth!
It's official, Cambrie's first tooth has finally broken through! Great job sweetie! Her toothless smile is super cute and I'm sad to see it go. Considering that she is 11 1/2 months-old, it is high time she got some chompers huh?

2008 Runnin' Party
We had a really good time tonight-let me tell you why. Jordan Johnson decided to organize a race for the kids of our student neighborhood. They think it's pretty awesome that their moms get to race so they wanted to have a race of their own. There were five different races tonight: the kids' 100 meter dash, kid 50 meter dash, daddy dash of 110 meters, diva dart of 100 meters, and a 10-foot-crawling-frenzy for the babies. The kids looked like they all had a good time, but when it was the dads' turn, it looked like they were walking to the gallows as they approached the starting line. After they got started though, pride kicked into full gear and they did great. The moms were more willing-some even running barefoot so they could participate. The babies on the other hand were hysterical. They had special lanes taped out onto a sheet and a finish line at the end. All the parents set down their kids and started cheering, but not one baby moved. The more Jeremy and I encouraged Cambrie, the more scared she became until she sat down and just started crying. Only one child made it to the finish line and was still smiling-good job Morgan.
This was Cambrie right before she started crying-
she could have easily walked to the finish line had she tried.
Jeremy and I set up a mock finish line moment. This is what she would have looked like :)

Breakfast with the Bishopric
Yesterday we had one of our Primary activities, Breakfast with the Bishopric. Basically it is just an opportunity for the kids and the Bishopric to get to know each other better. We ate and played games like, "Bishop Says" and "Pin the Tie on the Bishop." (I know what you're thinking, but the kids used fake ties on cardboard cutouts.) We had a lot of fun. Thanks for coming everyone.

Happy Father's Day
Yea for Father's Day! Yea for fathers! Yea for Jeremy who helps change dirty diapers, helps me with the dishes, scrubs the tub, takes out the trash, gives me massages, plays with Cambrie, kills the bugs, wires our lambs, kisses me hello and good-bye, and works hard in school.
It was Jeremy's first official Father's Day celebration, so I did the best thing for him I could think of...let him sleep in. It took all my willpower to willing let him sleep after another Halo/Call of Duty guys' night-but it was his day. I finally woke him up around 10 because I didn't want to put off breakfast any longer. We had pancakes and nectarines (my choice-he probably would've chosen enchiladas). He then opened his present. Cambrie and I got him a set of camping chairs. After our last camping trip we realized we really needed them. I think that Cambrie enjoyed his present as much as he did. Church was pretty typical and all of the men received candy bars...yum, but dinner was much better. We ate grilled swordfish steak with a mediterranean herb rub, citrus shrimp, steamed vegetables and rosemary mashed potatoes. I'm just glad that Jeremy liked it. We finished off the night with a cheesecake strawberry ice-cream creation by Kristen. Isn't Father's Day all about the food anyway? Love you dear!

Miles for Smiles
Every year some students from Jeremy's school travel to Haiti to do humanitarian dental work. To help raise money for their trip this year, they hosted a 5K race at Fort Washington State Park. I ran cross country in high school so this was a trip down memory lane. I wasn't expecting much, just a good run and a lot of fun. The course wasn't bad except for a hill in the middle-yikes, I haven't trained hills for a long time. I felt good during the race and even better after I finished and saw that I was 7th overall and the 2nd woman to finish. Yea! True, it was a small race, but that's okay. Kristen, Jordan, and Mindy also ran that day and did great. Nice job ladies!

Six Flags "Great Adventure"
It has been a couple of years since Jeremy and I have been on a roller coaster ride, so when a two-for-one coupon for Six Flags became available, we said, "Why not?!" The Wehmanns were kind enough to watch Cambrie for us so it was a much needed grown-up day. The day started out good enough (besides the line to buy parking tickets). We entered the park and just started hitting the rides one by one. First it was Superman, then The Great American Scream Machine, then my favorite, Kingda Ka. This ride is the fastest and tallest roller coaster in the world! It launches you from 0-128 MPH in 3.7 seconds. It was so fast that I was worried about the wind ripping my contacts from my eyeballs. You shoot forward then follow the track as it go STRAIGHT up, tops the hill and falls STRAIGHT down. It was absolutely incredible. After that, all of the other coasters were just for fun. It was a very hot day and we went through a lot of free refills (I never thought I'd be thankful for a souvenir cup). We found ourselves on other rides such as Medusa, Nitro, The Dark Knight (a sad disappointment), and another favorite, El Toro. I find it amusing that one of my favorite rides at good ol' Lagoon is the white wooden roller coaster, and my second favorite at Six Flags is the giant wooden roller coaster. What do they say, "the oldies and goodies?" That particular roller coaster is faster and more powerful than you would expect. I launched out of my front row seat many, many times during the ride.
Now this is where the "Great Adventure" really begins. Around five-o'clock, we realized that my phone was no longer in Jeremy's cargo pockets. We had no idea the last time we had seen it or where we had lost it. The only thing we could do was hope that it had been turned into lost and found. Since there worrying wouldn't solve anything, we finished out the day and had some good final rides. Around 6:30 we decided we should be responsible parents and go home to Cambrie. Once we were out in the parking lot, Jeremy came to the horrifying conclusion that his keys had disappeared at the same time as my phone. What were we supposed to do? I didn't bring my spare set, it was locked safely in our apartment an hour away. A locksmith came and unlocked the car for us, but unfortunately we had taken out the spare key earlier in the year. I didn't just feel bad that someone had to come and rescue us, but the Farnsworths were with us also and their two girls were being babysat. By the time we would get home, dinner and bed time would have come and gone for all of our girls. Not to mention, Jeremy and I were locked out of our apartment once we did get home. I'm just glad that my husband is clever enough to find a way for me to squeeze through a bedroom window. Thankfully we have very generous and understanding friends. Eric came and rescued us in his jeep. The Wehmanns and Marshs were willing to babysit a couple hours longer. The Farnsworths let us borrow their car today so Jeremy and I could drive back up to Six Flags to rescue our stranded car. And to top it off, the Security officers at the park even jump started our Jetta today since it wouldn't start. What should have been a carefree day of fun, turned into a multiple day adventure that has finally come to an end, at least I hope so.

Hi!
Besides "momma" and "dad," Cambrie is now proficient at saying the word, "hi." If you get lucky, she may even wave and say "hi" at the same time. She also knows exactly how to use a cell phone. One day I found her sitting on the floor with my phone in her hand carrying on quite the conversation with herself. She now grabs my phone whenever possible and just babbles on-sometimes it sounds like this:
