Soccer Saturdays

Spring soccer is rough with so many cancelled games and practices because of the snow.  We finally had a day where the fields were dry enough to play and it wasn't freezing!  I also remembered to pull out my camera because it's not often I remember to do that.  Kelton's game came first.  I admit I'm actually a little bit sad that he's not walking around the field with his shirt over his head.  He was still a little bit goofy this game, but focused enough to be there for his team.  We love his coach and he loves having Max and Everett on his team.  They still don't keep score, but Kelton is pretty positive they lost and was slightly disappointed about that.

It was one of the super rare days where Cambrie and Kelton played on the same group of fields.  After Kelton's game we simply picked up our chairs and walked over to Cambrie's game.  I missed the first half because of Kelton's team pictures, but if the first half was anything like the second half then I missed a good game.  Cambrie had two solid shots on goal but didn't have enough power to put them away.  It was so close!  They ended up tying 1-1.  I would love to see our team win.  It's been a rough season of ties and last minute game losing goals.  However, the group of girls and parents is fantastic so it's a pretty decent trade off.  Cambrie is looking so long and grown up now!

This is Kelton on the drive home.  I agree bud, soccer Saturdays are pretty fun.

Xtreme at Flatirons

McKenzie's second meet at Flatirons went just as well as her first.  The judges were a little tighter with their scoring so her numbers weren't as high.  That didn't stop her from taking 5th on the floor and 3rd in all around.

She didn't even forget a move this time, which made her pretty happy.  Her dream is to make the JO team, and if she keeps up like this we just might have a shot.

Thunder Vista borchestra concert

Wow these kids have come a long way from their first concert.  Seven months ago they couple barely play a note on their instruments, much less a tune that sounded anything like a tune.  But now they were fabulous and you could actually hear all of the rhythms and melodies being played.  Cambrie has been practicing so hard on her cello for this concert.  She did not want to mess up.  Judging by her smile there, she thinks she did a pretty good job.

After beginning borchestra (band + orchestra), then the advanced students played.  I just think she looks so mature sitting there on the side.

After the concert was done we pulled the girls together for a picture.  They look totally legit in their conert attire.  Now I can't wait to hear a musical piece played by these four at church.

Daxton days

Oh boy, what to do with this boy.  When he's happy he's a hoot.  When he's grumpy no one can compare.  But here are some of the goofier Daxton moments of late:

He loves wearing his underwear on his head when he'd being goofy.  Yes, they're always clean, but really?  I think today he decided he was Batman.

Hanging out up at Keystone waiting for his siblings to finish their ski day.

He wanted to have a picnic in the tent in the front room.  He made sure to bring my favorite snack so that I would join him: peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Well, when you can make potato heads into anything...

He tucked his Baby Bumblebee and Orange Baby Bumblebee into bed.  I didn't know he had a nurturing side.

Just another visit to the library as Catboy.  I love the dress up stage where they wear costumes everywhere.  I had four stores to run to that day and everyone commented on his tail.

Proof that I love this kid.

Misc

Random moments:

Hannah published a book! We were so proud of her that we bought it as soon as it came out on Amazon and read it for bedtime stories that night.  My favorite is that her friend illustrated it and Hannah, Alan, and Faye are in the book.

McKenzie had her spring concert.  She wasn't nearly as nervous as she was for her first or second performance.  She took to it like a natural.

We unpacked the games and found Jenga!  Right after we took this picture the tower toppled.

The boys have discovered the little carts at King Soopers.  My ankles only get run over twice per trip, so it's not that bad.  It's fun to see them as such little helpers.

Cambrie made it to the district art show again (naturally).  Her class made ceramic coral reefs.  All together they look fantastic.

She is also really into succulents.  At a birthday party they each made a new succulent pot and Cambrie thought it was the best birthday activity ever!

Easter visitors

When the Kings asked us to go to their house for Easter, I knew that there was no way I'd have the emotional strength to handle a trip like that right now, so we turned the tables and invited them over to our house instead.  It turned into a Rogers' family Easter.  Even though it was quick we made the most of their time here.  They were able to see the kids' soccer games.  The boys went golfing.  The girls went crafting.  We painted Easter eggs.  We had an Easter egg hunt.  And we had a great Easter feast.  It was so nice having the family out here in Colorado for a change.  Our house is now big enough that we can host a gathering like this without everyone feeling cramped.  While we won't host a ton of parties, I'm glad that we now finally have the option to do just that.  Watching the kids play with the Kings was awesome.  They love their cousins.

Here are some highlight pictures of the weekend (hopefully with more coming soon of the whole crew).

Handstand push-up contest.  They took pictures of all the contestants but I thought the winner, McKenzie deserved the place of honor on the blog.

I also liked Stockton's form.

Kelton's soccer game.  The girls made sure Pippa stayed nice and shaded.

The also decided that piggy backs and human towers were necessary for the best cheering squad.

Eggs.  Leesa bought a really cool egg spinner that the kids colored on while it spun.  It resulted in perfectly striped eggs.  It was definitely the kids' favorite way to decorate their eggs.

Look at those tip toes!

Sunday morning the kids woke up to find bunny prints outside on our street!  We threw on our jackets and followed them in a giant circle around our neighborhood.  It was probably my favorite memory of the weekend.

Once we made it back the adults were awak and they could go on their basket scavenger hunt.  Having a couple readers in the group definitely simplify things.

Daxton was most excited to finally receive a chocolate bunny!

We saved the egg hunt for after church, which was a slight mistake.  It started raining and we had to hunt for the eggs while getting rained on.  Cambrie was creative and wore her basket as a hat.  Unfortunately it took her the longest to find her eggs so she was out in the rain the longest.

Lots of tree climbing this year.  That's what happens when you have full-grown trees!

We loved having everyone come out to visit.  And we'd love to have you come out again!  (Hint, hint :)
