Good-bye Jetta

Poor Jetta.

Poor, poor Jetta.

After being a part of our litle family for six years, it was finally time to say good-bye to the Jetta.  We knew the end was coming, it was only just a matter of time.  But...it's still hard to say good-bye to the car we dated in,

that Jeremy rebuilt after he drove into a ditch after buying my wedding ring, drove away from our wedding reception in,

drove across the country in,

brought home both girls from the hospital in,

and had sooo many adventures in.

However, when parts are literally falling off the car as it sits in the driveway or as you're driving down the road, it's probably time to call it quits.  It was getting to the point where the doors would freeze shut, turning on the AC would kill the battery, it would sing spooky songs with it's alarm noises, the check engine light and emergency brake light would flash on and off randomly, and driving with any amount of moisture on the road was a death wish.
As the winter progressed I just kept waiting for that call that my husband was in a ditch somewhere because the car killed him.  As we started looking into other options, it became apparent that even though Jeremy was dreaming of a fancy new sport car, it wasn't going to happen.  However, buying a used car didn't seem like it was going to solve our problems or ease my worries of a car falling apart around my husband.  So one night my husband totally surprised me by driving home in this instead of the Jetta:
A shiny new Hyundai Veloster.

Was I surprised?  Absolutely!  Am I thrilled that my husband is thrilled?  Totally!  He loves his sporty new car.  People at the office no longer tease him, and I can breathe better knowing that when Jeremy comes home from work he will most likely be bringing the entire car home too.  So while it was sad to see the Jetta go (Jeremy's Uncle Lamar kindly gave it a new home), we're just glad that it made it as long as it did.  So long old friend.  So long little blue Jetta :(

i know how you feel. When our honda was stolen and we recovered it from the tow yard after it had been stripped, it was heart breaking. I actually cried when I saw it because i thought about the exact same things that we had been through with our car. Dating, marriage, kids and a drive across country. sniff. sniff.
