Even though our lives have been a crazy whirlwind of packing and trips, we just had to put it aside for one day to meet up with some friends at Water World. They have told us time and time again to come with them, but I just haven't been able to handle it with the little boys by myself. However, the stars aligned where both girls were tall enough for basically everything, there were enough other moms there to help keep an eye on everyone, and Jeremy had the day off to help me with Daxton. For the first half of the day I didn't even see the girls. They were off with their friends and having the time of their lives. They'd pop by every hour or so to let us know where they were headed, then they'd run off again. Kelton enjoyed the little slides by camp and hung out with us until Jeremy came and took him on a bunch of fun rides. He was disappointed he wasn't tall enough to go on all the rides but he found plenty to keep him entertained. Daxton on the other hand was not thrilled by anything but the wading pool. He cried on the kiddie slides and he screamed in terror on the family tube rides. I held him pressed against my chest giving him a huge hug as we coasted down the water slide, yet he was shaking with fear. We were horrible parents and took him on about four family rides. The dinosaur ride was probably the most successful. He didn't scream 100% of the time, just 75%. But the wading pool, he could do the wading pool. And snacks, he could do snacks.
Most of our friends ended up with season passes this year and knew all of the best rides. Jeremy and I took turns being chaperones towards the end of the day and were able to ride some of the rides too. On the tall, steep, straight white slides I wasn't sure what to expect from the girls. Cambrie went down no problem. McKenzie sat down with no hesitation but then instantly stood up, too scared to go through with it. She took two steps away from the slide before changing her and launched herself back onto the slide. I watched the whole scene from below and just laughed. Kelton found a smaller water slide that he could go down by himself. The splash pool at the bottom was shallow enough that he could stand but he still was pushed under right off the slide. He was so proud that he could go under all the way. Daxton and I watched from the fun house. Water was dripping and falling all around so Daxton ended up wearing my huge beach hat as we walked through to keep the water off of his face. All of the kids liked the wave pool. The girls wanted to go as deep as possible to be tossed around. Kelton liked jumping over each wave, especially with help from me for the taller ones. Daxton liked being on the very, very edge where the water just brushed his feet. Even though the adults' arms were tired from hauling the giant family tubes up the hills, we weren't ready for the fun to end. Before we knew it the whole day had passed. My girls are begging for a season pass next year and I just might say yes... Because scenes like this are too fun not to do again. This isn't even the whole crew, just those who came in for a quick lunch break.
