Andrew wanted to take us to Cassidy Arch. It was not a repel that was for the faint of heart, so we woke up at 5:00 to climb before sunrise and before the kids woke up.

As we climbed my mom told us that at least Peter and I had been there before. Well, I recognize it now.
At the top the view is stellar and it has a really great echo throughout the canyon.
The first drop of Cassidy Arch is amazing because you drop right through the arch. Jeremy had the best view as he could watch people the whole way down.
Andrew taught us all about the fiddle stick technique which is one way to get your rope back down. I have to say that sticking a stick into a knot and hoping that it doesn't slip sideways while you're repelling doesn't sound super secure, but apparently it works.
Peter, Jeremy and I were at the bottom waiting for my mom when we started hearing words like, "Wait. Loose. That's not right." Those are not the words you want to hear as your mom starts over the edge of a cliff. After what seemed like a long time she made her way over the edge and down. Apparently her harness had been twisted in a way that the leg straps weren't secured to the waist strap. Well, they were able to fix it and we were good to go.
The rest of the canyon was pretty, but not as striking as the beginning of the climb.
We found some moki steps carved into the walls down at the bottom, and a bridge that was used by polygamy families to escape the law. Interesting fact eh?
The excursion took us just shy of four hours by the time we made it back to camp where the real troopers were watching the kids. Thank you folks!
