On our adventure day with Faye we went to the Butterfly Pavilion. First step to looking at the butterflies is becoming a butterfly. Faye and McKenzie did fabulously don't you think?
Inside we went and found the bugs first. The kids were all fascinated by the bees. They liked watching them fly, walk, and build their honeycomb home safely on the other side of the plexi-glass. It's been quite a summer trying to encourage the kids to be less scared of bees so this was fantastic.
Daxton didn't want to get too close to any of the bugs,
...but the older girls couldn't wait to hold Rosie. I had no idea how Faye was going to react to having a tarantula walking on her hand, but she just giggled and said how much it tickled.
In the greenhouse everyone tried to look as appealing as possible so that the butterflies would land on them. McKenzie tried walking very slowly with her arms spread out. She also refused to talk thinking that it would scare the butterflies away.
Both girls were very jealous when a butterfly landed on Kelton's back completely unprompted, and another girl set a butterfly right on Faye's hand.
Kelton liked finding all the secret paths.
The butterflies made Daxton really nervous. He refused to walk by himself and insisted on being carried or holding someone's hand.
"Get me out of here Mom!"
This was as close as Cambrie came to a butterfly landing on her. She took a seat next to one instead.
She also watched one hatch out of its chrysallis which sounds pretty amazing.
And here is proof that all five kids were enjoying themselves-they're smiling!
