The name of the game this Christmas was family time. Christmas Eve we went to see Wicked, and it was absolutely fabulous.
That night we had our traditional Bethlehem dinner and talked about all the things we were grateful for this year. We had a lot to be grateful for; Jeremy's new job, McKenzie's health, the opportunities Cambrie's had, and memories we made together.
Daxton was in charge of Santa's cookies this year. We tried out a new recipe, peppermint chocolate chip, and they were delicious! Santa didn't leave many behind.
The kids opened their ornaments and pajamas, had a spontaneous pillow fight, then climbed into bed while visions of sugarplums danced in their heads.
Christmas morning was the perfect amount of calm and chaos. This year we decided to try something new. You were not allowed to grab your own present from under the tree, so there was a lot of present delivering which slowed down the manic present unwrapping.
Moki jammies!
A new curling wand of her very own!
Sibling gifts:
A book for Kenzie from Daxton
Roller skates for Daxton from Kelton
A new hot cocoa mug to Kelton from Cambrie
Gogo boots to Cambrie from McKenzie
Jeremy was given some new shirts for work.
Moki was very excited about his new gifts too.
The kids got creative with Jeremy's gift this year. They set up a scavenger hunt for him that took us all over the house until we ended up in the backyard admiring his new fire pit.
This is Where's Waldo, Christmas morning edition. We're all there if you can find us!
Playing with all of our new toys. Daxton wore his roller skates the entire day and cruised all over the house. Somehow all of our toes survived.
Lego set building warm-ups
Cambrie's haul
McKenzie's haul
The boys' combined haul.
Crazy onesies from Ryan to Jeremy and I. If you need to be toasty warm, these are the key.
Many of the kids' gifts this year were for Iceland; warm clothes, story books, travel games, so we had fewer Christmas day games to play. So I came up with a bunch of silly family games we played all afternoon.
The dance off wasn't part of the planned game day, but it can be!
We had a race to see who could pull their full glasses of water towards them the fastest.
Who could scoop up as many snowballs as possible while blindfolded?
Fishing for candy canes
It's hard scooping up marshmallows with reindeer hoofs has hands.
Come on! Shake out those ping pong balls!
How fast can you unroll your streamer?
The big builds took quite a few hours to complete, but we had some pretty happy Lego masters.
It was a perfect kind of Christmas! I absolutely loved every part of this day with my kids.
