Six Flags "Great Adventure"

It has been a couple of years since Jeremy and I have been on a roller coaster ride, so when a two-for-one coupon for Six Flags became available, we said, "Why not?!" The Wehmanns were kind enough to watch Cambrie for us so it was a much needed grown-up day. The day started out good enough (besides the line to buy parking tickets). We entered the park and just started hitting the rides one by one. First it was Superman, then The Great American Scream Machine, then my favorite, Kingda Ka. This ride is the fastest and tallest roller coaster in the world! It launches you from 0-128 MPH in 3.7 seconds. It was so fast that I was worried about the wind ripping my contacts from my eyeballs. You shoot forward then follow the track as it go STRAIGHT up, tops the hill and falls STRAIGHT down. It was absolutely incredible. After that, all of the other coasters were just for fun. It was a very hot day and we went through a lot of free refills (I never thought I'd be thankful for a souvenir cup). We found ourselves on other rides such as Medusa, Nitro, The Dark Knight (a sad disappointment), and another favorite, El Toro. I find it amusing that one of my favorite rides at good ol' Lagoon is the white wooden roller coaster, and my second favorite at Six Flags is the giant wooden roller coaster. What do they say, "the oldies and goodies?" That particular roller coaster is faster and more powerful than you would expect. I launched out of my front row seat many, many times during the ride.

Now this is where the "Great Adventure" really begins. Around five-o'clock, we realized that my phone was no longer in Jeremy's cargo pockets. We had no idea the last time we had seen it or where we had lost it. The only thing we could do was hope that it had been turned into lost and found. Since there worrying wouldn't solve anything, we finished out the day and had some good final rides. Around 6:30 we decided we should be responsible parents and go home to Cambrie. Once we were out in the parking lot, Jeremy came to the horrifying conclusion that his keys had disappeared at the same time as my phone. What were we supposed to do? I didn't bring my spare set, it was locked safely in our apartment an hour away. A locksmith came and unlocked the car for us, but unfortunately we had taken out the spare key earlier in the year. I didn't just feel bad that someone had to come and rescue us, but the Farnsworths were with us also and their two girls were being babysat. By the time we would get home, dinner and bed time would have come and gone for all of our girls. Not to mention, Jeremy and I were locked out of our apartment once we did get home. I'm just glad that my husband is clever enough to find a way for me to squeeze through a bedroom window. Thankfully we have very generous and understanding friends. Eric came and rescued us in his jeep. The Wehmanns and Marshs were willing to babysit a couple hours longer. The Farnsworths let us borrow their car today so Jeremy and I could drive back up to Six Flags to rescue our stranded car. And to top it off, the Security officers at the park even jump started our Jetta today since it wouldn't start. What should have been a carefree day of fun, turned into a multiple day adventure that has finally come to an end, at least I hope so.

Hi!

Besides "momma" and "dad," Cambrie is now proficient at saying the word, "hi." If you get lucky, she may even wave and say "hi" at the same time. She also knows exactly how to use a cell phone. One day I found her sitting on the floor with my phone in her hand carrying on quite the conversation with herself. She now grabs my phone whenever possible and just babbles on-sometimes it sounds like this:

Camping-yippee!

Last weekend Jeremy and I decided to continue a Johnson family tradition and go camping over Memorial Day weekend. We ended up at a campground called French Creek that was completely full, but that's okay because we still had our fire pit and it was still camping. This was Cambrie's first time camping and we weren't sure how she would do. Let's just say she came home completely covered in dirt from head to toe. Lately she has had an obsession with being outside, so when we set her down on the ground and let her play she was thrilled. Her favorite games were plucking the heads off of the dandelions in our campsite, sucking on a plastic fork, and squishing the plentiful caterpillars who crawled too close. She slept covered in blankets between Jeremy and I, and slept wonderfully. We couldn't have asked for a better weekend.

What a hottie!
Hello little inchworm...
Almost got it

A Little Experiment

I have a confession to make, I enjoy "blog surfing." I go from friends' sites to friends' sites to try and find people I haven't heard from in awhile. Our blog is normally a private blog which only allows certain readers, which means blog surfers like me can't look at it if they want to. So, for a short time, I am opening it up to anyone. If you find our blog and would like to become a permament reader, send me your email address so you can be on our permission list in the future (ajzjohnson@yahoo.com). Happy surfing!

Walking?

Some days Cambrie decides that she wants to learn to walk. Other days she would rather crawl or have us carry her around. She was particularly adventurous this night. I wonder when she'll really want to learn...
"I don't know what you want me to do."

Philadelphia Zoo

The last time Cambrie went to the zoo she was three months old and slept through the entire thing. I had a good time though. Since then, Cambrie has learned how to point at things that catch her attention. (If she points at you when you walk into the room, that's her way of saying hello.) So this trip was more interactive for her.

"Mom, he looks just my little P'nut at home!"

Who is more interested in who?

This is the life!

Thank you Farnsworths for letting us go with you!

Nana, Cambrie and Annette after a day full of fun
Later that night Jeremy had a soccer game. They didn't win but we decided to celebrate the effort with some ice-cream at Zwahlen's. I wonder if Cambrie will become an ice-cream aholic like her mom. What do you think?

Schuylkill River Regatta

Every time I drive down Kelly Drive I think that I need to stop and walk along the river. Isn't it beautiful? Well, last Saturday I got my chance. Philadelphia hosts the annual Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River. More than one hundred colleges and universities participate in this rowing competition. None of us know anything about rowing, but we thought that the experience would be fun, so we packed up the stroller and off we went.

Lunch was chicken fingers and cold french fries eaten on the river bank. Cambrie quickly discovered that it was more fun to throw the cold french fries to the geese than to eat them. She'd pick up a french fry in her chubby little fingers and watch it fall. We have no idea who won the Dad Vail championship, but we had a good time on the riverbank.
