Balcony House

After a picnic lunch we made our way to out second tour of the day, Balcony House.  This tour required a little more physical capacity so Grandma Stratford and Audrey hung out in the car while the rest of us went exploring.  My mom did a great job of timing the tours so that we were always touring in the shade.  It was such a hot day!  Balcony House wasn't nearly as large as Cliff Palace, but getting in and out was a lot more interesting.  We had some big ladders to climb, which my kids tackled like champs.

There was also a tunnel to crawl through to exit the dwelling which made some people nervous, but we just thought was a nice perk.  I'm trying to imagine raising little kids in homes like this and I just can't fathom it.  Stay away from the cliffs kids!  Watch your toddler sibling so they don't walk off the edge!  It would not have been easy.

It's not quite Cliff Palace, but still a pretty decent view for a family picture.
