Each night we kind of planned out what we wanted to do the next day. The kids heard the name, "Death Canyon" and you can bet that made it onto their itinerary. On our way to the trailhead we saw a bunch of stopped cars; you know what that means, wildlife sighting. We climbed out of the car and saw a mama and baby moose. They are such elegant creatures.

By this point in our trip, Daxton knew he was pretty tired of going on hikes. We convinced him that we just wanted to go on a little walk and he cooperated with that idea. It was a mile up to the Phelps Lake overlook so that was our end goal. It must be a very popular hiking spot because there were cars parked nearly a mile down from the trailhead. Luckily for us we got there late enough that some spots had opened up right at the top. The trail was great, shaded, cool, beautiful. Oh! I just realized I never took any pictures of the wildflowers! All over the park (especially back at camp) there were wildflowers everywhere! Reds, orangeds, yellows, blues, whites, and my mom knew the names of most of them. It was gorgeous.
