Toothless

Cambrie just lost ANOTHER tooth this morning!  If she keeps going at this rate her new nickname will have to be Toothless.  She first started complaining this morning during breakfast about her tooth hurting when she chewed.  I truly didn't think anything of it since we had been so focused on the other tooth lately.  I thought she was just hoping for another tooth to fall out.  I went downstairs to change the laundry and imagine my surprise when Cambrie came with her tooth dangling in it's socket.  Oh!  I guess it is loose!  With about the same about of force as it requires to pick a crumb off the floor, I picked that tooth out of her mouth.  Now that was easy.  Her smile is now missing four of its front teeth and she looks adorable.

When the tooth fairy made her inaugural visit last week she left a calling card for Cambrie in addition to some money.  Cambrie can't believe her luck that she gets to be visited again tonight.

30 Weeks

I have successfully made it through 30 weeks of pregnancy!  Yahoo!  This little guy is not so little any more and keeps trying to find more space in my tummy.  He wiggles, and wiggles, and wiggles.  Sometimes he stretches his arms and legs at the same time and my tummy isn't sure what to do about that.  I'm a little nervous that he is going to be just as wiggly when he comes out...oh boy...

So far for baby-prep we have nursery walls painted, a quilt in the works, a crib that just needs to be set up, and I am working on collecting blue clothes for this boy instead of the pink outfits that have previously occupied this home.  I'm feeling pretty good about how things are moving along and am surprised that there are only 10 weeks left.  It may sound short, it may sound long, but once you get into single digits there is no denying that the birthday is close.  I can't wait to meet the little guy, whatever his name may be :)

Lost tooth!

Cambrie has officially lost her first tooth!  It started wiggling weeks ago, but I didn't really believe it was time for the sucker to fall out.  During the last week she has been coming to me every day to wiggle her tooth and see if it was ready to pull out.  We've given a it a few yanks, but hadn't yet seriously tried to pull it out.  To be honest, I was a little hestitant because I was afraid the slight discomfort and blood that accompanies lost teeth would ruin the experience for her.  (I just never know what to expect with the girls really.)  Tonight as we were eating pizza for dinner, Cambrie suddenly said, "I have to spit this bite out.  My tooth just fell out."  I wasn't sure if I believed her or not.  But as she sorted through her slimy pizza bite she truly did find her tooth.  Luckily the marinara sauce disguised any blood that was there and she didn't even notice.  She was so thrilled!  We immediately took her picture and started calling the grandparents.  Now she is asleep upstairs awaiting the arrival of the tooth fairy.  I can't believe she's old enough to be loosing teeth.  It is just another one of those milestones that make you realize how your kids keep growing up.

Sweeth Tooth

Miss McKenzie has a serious sweet tooth.  Sugar, sugar, sugar...she just loves it.  Last time I made cookies she was literally eating spoonfuls of brown sugar out of the canister.  We've had a few special desserts lately because the girls have been such excellent helpers around the house, and my is she in heaven!

Golf Day postponed

Jeremy has been itching to go golfing since golfing season ended last year.  His schedule has been a little crazy lately and finding a day to go has been tough.  He finally found a free morning and was super excited about being out on the course again, only to be greeted by falling snow.  24 hours later we knew he wouldn't be golfing for awhile.  This was the storm that should have constituted our snow day!

Snow Day

Yesterday was forecasted as a serious winter storm.  We were to expect 6-12 inches of snow, freezing temperatures, and general winter misery.  I had a hard time believing the forecast since the day before was a gorgeous 65 degrees and our meteorologists have a habit of being wrong.  We woke up Tuesday morning to an inch of snow...maybe...and to the news that school had been cancelled because of the warnings.  Suddenly I had two girls without anything to do all day.  When I asked Cambrie if she had any ideas, she suggested we go bowling and I thought it was a fabulous idea.  My hips have been really sore this weekend (I blame the pregnancy) and Jeremy has been out on the couch with a nasty cold, but bowling didn't require too much running around so we decided to tough it out.
The girls were given bumpers, a ramp, and a light ball to make it easier for them.  Jeremy and I would help line up the ramp, but the girls were in charge of grabbing their ball and pushing it down the ramp.

At first they weren't sure of what to make of the ball retriever.  Each time the ball popped out the girls would jump in surprise.  We played two games, and they jumped every time.  It never grew old.

Cambrie after her first spare.

McKenzie after her fifth spare.

Our first game was pretty good.  Each girl bowled a few spares and they rarely missed a pin.  The second game was very different.  Poor Cambrie could not get her ball to roll straight.  On most frames she only knocked over a single pin on her first try!  She started getting frustrated (understandably so since McKenzie won the previous game too), and we convinced her that an evil troll was tricking her.  She accepted that explanation and we tried everything possible to get the evil troll to stop messing up her game; Jeremy bowled for her to try to make a lot of noise, we tried sneaking the ball down the ramp, and we tried bowling without the ramp in case it made him nervous.  He must have finally decided to be nice because she finally knocked down nine pins on her last frame.  But even though we had a nasty troll to deal with, we still had a good time and considered our "snow day" a success.

Easter

The week before Easter we had a serious snow storm dump at least six inches of snow and spoil one Easter egg hunt.  I was crossing my fingers that we would have nice weather Easter weekend so eggs could be found and Easter dresses could be worn without coats.  Luckily it was a gorgeous Easter weekend.  Saturday morning Jeremy had to work so I took the girls to their egg hunts solo.

The first egg hunt was our neighborhood hunt across the street.  The organizers had laid out hundreds of eggs and I think they intended to have a little kid and a big kid hunting sections.  But during the age division process the mob let loose and it was suddenly a free for all.  Cambrie can hold her own and I wasn't worried about her.  McKenzie had a hard time keeping in front of the pack and we had to rush to find some untapped areas.  Unfortunately each time she bent down to pick up a new egg, all of the other eggs would fall out of her basket and we would have to pick them up again before another kids came to snatch them.  It took a matter of minutes before the swarm of children cleaned up all the eggs.

Since it was over so quickly I let the girls stay to play on the playground.  This particularly playground just had the toddler swings, but Cambrie didn't let that stop her.  She wedged her little bum into the seat and sat there happily while I pushed her.  They found that they were close enough to hold hands while they swung and it was their goal to stay connected as long as they possibly could.

Approximately an hour later it was time for our next egg hunt.  This egg hunt had a 15 egg limit which made the madness much more manageable.  In addition to their eggs, each child also got a prize.  McKenzie was drawn to a bunny sippy cup, and Cambrie found a little bead craft.  Once the kids were happily eating their candy the adults got to go on their egg hunt.  It would have been fun to have Jeremy there for this one because each adult egg had $20 gift cards, plus one $100 prize.  I love hunting for the eggs, not just because of the prizes inside but because I feel like a kid again.  I had just found my egg when I heard McKenzie wailing behind me.  She had wandered out in the field barefoot to come find me.  I picked her up and discovered that the bottom of her feet were covered in little prickles.  We sat down on the grass and I proceeded to pull out as many slivers as I could.  One of the guests had a pair of tweezers and he started pulling them out as I held McKenzie down.  She was pretty uncomfortable after that and we ended up going home early to count their loot.

Sunday morning the girls were up very early to see what the Easter bunny had left.  Jeremy and I had stayed up late watching movies and it was definitely too early for us to be hunting baskets, but we woke up anyway.  Cambrie discovered that the Easter bunny had left a trail of clues for them to follow to their baskets.  The girls were quick to solve the riddles and found their baskets in no time.  Jeremy and I on the other could not find ours!  We had to resort to clues and a game of "bula, bula" to find them.  Either we were still really tired or just had really well hidden baskets.

Church came quickly and we dressed the girls in their new dresses.  I let the girls choose their material and pattern nearly a month ago, yet I sewed on the finishing touches the night before.  Once they were completed they looked like little Easter egg princesses.  They loved twirling in their dresses.  The problem was McKenzie's dress was too long, even with her high heels and she kept tripping on it.  I actually had to take a needle and thread to church and fixed some pulled stitches during the talks in Sacrament meeting.  The rest of the day we enjoyed our Easter candy, read new Easter books, finished reading our scripture Easter eggs, enjoyed an Easter feast, and relaxed.  It was nearly perfect.
