Today was a day for feet up. Well, "feet up" doesn't necessarily have to mean not leaving your hotel room all day. Jeremy and I decided to go check out Spa Thermal Park. It was just a few minutes out of town, and it was free! On the banks of the Waikoto River, there is a hot water inlet from the Otumukeke Stream where people go to sit and enjoy the warm water. We didn't know what we were getting ourselves into, but as we walked down to the river we found a sweet zipline that deserved a chance, and it was fun!
Down at the river's edge I was very surprised by what I saw. There really was just a little inlet next to the river where people were just lounging. As we walked through the water we could feel the cold water from the river mixing with the hot water of the inlet. The closer we walked to the waterfalls coming in, the warmer the water felt. We managed to find a couple perfect spots to just sit and feel warm. Honestly, our legs still felt a little beat up after our hike, and this was true therapy for them.
The longer we sat, the more people came until we felt like we had lounged long enough. Jeremy decided to go out and ride the river current for a bit. There's not way I was going to go get cold after feeling so comfortable.
Llama kept a close eye on him. It was a stellar way to spend the afternoon.
