Really? Again?

Remember a couple of months ago when Cambrie was going through that "no nap at all" stage? She eventually got through it and started taking naps again without much fuss. BUT....she's decided to go through the stage again. Lucky me. After 1 1/2 hours in bed talking to herself (and saying some really entertaining things by the way), she finally calls for me. "Mommy! Mommy!" So what do we do when she's supposed to be napping?

Eat one of mommy's favorite snacks, Nilla Wafers with vanilla frosting.
(Hey, might as well keep us both happy right?)

Eat the snack without fingers.

Play in our water glasses-because isn't that more fun than actually drinking out of them?

And learn how to do the splits.

At least she's cute huh? But does that really make up for no nap? It's all right, I have full faith in my daughter that she will realize the physical and psychological benefits (for both of us) that come from her daily naps, and start sleeping again soon.

Watchdog

Watchdogs take care of you. They make sure that no one hurts you, no one gets in your way, and you are safe at all times. I have to admit that I have my own little watchdog. Her name is...

Cambrie.

She is great about making sure I'm always okay. The problem is her number one priority is making sure that I'm safe from Jeremy. (As a disclaimer, there is absolutely nothing unsafe about him). According to Watchdog Cambrie, Jeremy is not allowed to:

*give me hugs
*cuddle on the couch with me
*carry "my" diaper bag
*touch my dishes
*eat "my" grapes
*rub my back
*tickle me
*stand too close to me
*sit on "my" computer chair
*touch Cambrie's high chair
*hold my phone
*hold my hand
*stand in the kitchen with me
*fold my shirts
*use "my" blanket
*touch me at all
*or handle anything that Cambrie has seen me use

I just feel bad for the guy. When did giving hugs become a no-no for Jeremy and me? We just hope she decides to be more Shitzu and less Doberman Pinscher soon.

Yikes!

Cambrie has super fine hair. It is soft, thin, and a mess to keep untangled. I don't know what it is about the back of her head (the front hair is different), but every morning her hair looks like this:As Cambrie would say, "Crazy!" In order to brush through the matted, tangled mess I need to use a lot of conditioning spray and a very wide-tooth-comb. I don't know if the problem will get better or worse as her hair grows longer. Oh boy...

The Truth is...

The truth is I am perfectly happy eating cereal.
The truth is I've never watched "Top Gun."

The truth is I've never liked my nose.
The truth is I'm still afraid of monsters in the closet and I make Jeremy close the door at night.
The truth is I can't keep a budget.
The truth is I wish I could live like a rock climber extremist and not feel guilty about not being "responsible."
The truth is I wish I had stuck with piano lessons.
The truth is I am horrible at throwing parties.
The truth is I have games in my closet that I haven't played for three years or longer (see above.)

The truth is I'm a pretty good cook if I have a recipe to follow.
The truth is I love waking up early to exercise, but sometimes I forget I love it.

The truth is I'm afraid to look in the bathroom mirror after midnight because I'm afraid I'll see Bloody Mary.
The truth is I wish I could go Green.
The truth is I've always loved my name.
The truth is I wanted to be an Olympic swimmer but I knew the reality of following that dream was too intense and all-consuming.
The truth is I lose good friends because I never call them.
The truth is I don't like fruit-flavored chocolate.

The Zoo

Cambrie and I went to the zoo today. Cambrie was so excited to see all of the animals. She'd run up to an exhibit, ooh and ah, then ask for more. That's all I heard all day was "More please." It was fun to see her love it so much.

One of our first stops were the kangaroos and peacocks. One of the peacocks flew out of the exhibit and landed on the spectator railing. We both thought it was neat to see it so close.

I was pretty pleased that the large animals didn't scare her. She didn't mind getting close to the glass to look at the lions, or giving the gorilla a high-five. Yea for my brave little Cambrie!

One of Cambrie's favorite exhibit were the ducks. Weird huh? We were looking at monkeys, alligators, tortoises, and elephants, but Cambrie didn't want to leave the ducks and water behind.

Another close contender for her favorite animal were the polar bears. She loved to see them swimming and playing with their rubber balls. For awhile they were wrestling over the balls which was fun to watch.

Somewhere in the background is a rhino. I just have to show this picture because she actually turned around and smiled at the camera. There are usually zebras in this exhibit too but I guess they were more comfortable inside.

We basically had the place to ourselves today. The weather was great and there was a touch of spring to the air. It was perfect. I think the last couple of days scared everyone off. I won't complain that there weren't any crowds.
I love being a mom because I can use the excuse of my daughter to go back to the zoo again. I think I love it as much as she does, if not more. We'll be back!

Little Talker-VIDEO

Hello Grandparents! Dad, thanks to our conversation last night I decided to get the camera out this morning and record our little conversation. Hope you enjoy it. (Please don't pay attention to our morning hair.)

$ Free.99

Jeremy and I weren't in a hurry to get a "big girl" bed for Cambrie, but we thought we'd look on Craigslist anyway just to see what was out there. I found this bed for $20. Pretty good deal I thought. So I called the seller and she told me she'd give it to me for $15. Even better. I drove down to pick it up and as we were loading it into my car she said that I didn't owe her anything. I asked again just to make sure, and she told me just to take it. Awesome! I'll take a free bed. It had one little crack that we had to repair with some epoxy, so I guess the bed cost $5. But still :)

Jeremy and I set it up yesterday and Cambrie thought it was great. She kept climbing on it, hiding under the blankets, reading books in bed, and was all smiles when she talked about her bed. As an experiment we tried napping in it yesterday and sleeping in it last night. Would you believe that she stayed in bed all night? I was shocked actually. We'll give it a couple more days, just in case, before we take down her crib but for now Cambrie is in a big girl bed!
