I just got the pictures back from Cambrie's final T-ball game. I was so disappointed that I forgot my camera that day, but we were lucky that one of the other moms was willing to send me what she had. I have absolutely loved going to Cambrie's games. She has become much better at catching, throwing, batting, and knowing where to go.
Some of my favorite stories from T-ball this season: When the season started she never remembered to run to first base and would stand there with bat in hand waiting to be told what to do. The next few games I kept reminding her to run as soon as she hit the ball, she didn't need to watch who caught it. Well, she ran all right, but she would chase her own ball! With her batting helmet still on she would rush towards the ball with the outfield mob until one of the coaches got her attention and would send her to first base. Even as a runner she would continue chasing the balls. It was hysterical.
On one of her runs around the bases she made it to home plate then stopped right in front of it. The coach told her to touch the base. So she bent down, touched it with her finger, then stood up again waiting to be told what to do next. I couldn't stop laughing.
Luckily by her last game she had worked out all the kinks. She ran as a runner and fielded balls as an outfielder. She even got to play first base that last game which was awesome because the first baseman gets to catch a ball after ever at-bat and throw it back to home plate. At the end of every game they would huddle up and cheer for the other team then go meet them for high-fives. So cute to see the little kids being such good sports.
After the last game we met together for a little awards ceremony. The coach's wife had taken it upon herself to order trophies for the team, each one with the Sun Lions' team name and the player's name. Cambrie couldn't believe her luck that she got her very own trophy. She carried that thing around like it was the most precious thing she's ever received.
We took one final picture as a team before scarfing down chocolate cupcakes.
T-ball was a great experience. Cambrie had some great coaches and was so lucky to have so many girls on her team. And me? Well, it was the most entertaining part of my week :)
