Munchy cousins

As I'm going through the pictures of the week I think it's funny that the only pictures we took of the kiddos at home playing with each other were at meal time.  They all thought it was so funny to pop up over the edge and say, "Cheese!"  After that first night, they did this every night at dinner.

And I know that my waffles don't come close to comparing with Grandpa Johnson's, but it seemed appropriate to take a picture of cousins enjoying waffles together.  There's just something right with the world when that happens.

Shark Bait

I said it was a weekend of cousin fun right?  Bring on the Aquarium!

We haven't had passes here for a couple of years so this was Daxton's first time.  I was curios to see what he would think.  He thought it was great!  And he learned a new word, "fish."  Appropriate don't you think?

I don't even think Kelton remembers going to the aquarium when he was little and thought it was just as cool seeing the colorful fish, the sharks, and crazy eye fish.

Goofy kids!

Trying to get a cute one of the toddlers oohing and ahhing together.

As the exhibit progresses the fish become bigger.  Daxton didn't love that.  The big fish totally creeped him out and he'd run up to me to pick him up.  He learned another word, "scary."  No shark expeditions for this little guy.

Emma didn't seem to mind the rays or eels swimming all around her.

The shark exhibit was great because there was a sawtooth shark kept circling under the floor viewing windows which was awesome for my older kids.

Daxton was just happy by the point to climb through the tunnels they had set up on the opposite end of the room.  We had two sleeping toddlers on our drive home.  Success!  (Insert picture from my sister's phone here :)

Emma at the Children's Museum

We've been holding onto our guest passes for the Children's Museum for just the right moment, and this weekend was it!  Emma and Camille came out to visit and we decided to have a cousin weekend packed full of fun.  The Children's Museum was wild the day we went (of course it was Veteran's Day so everyone had the day off), but it was worth the chaos.  Cambrie worked on her nativity scene and stop-motion films.  McKenzie painted and played with the rocket launchers.  Kelton and Daxton spent another hour in the ball room.  And Emma ran around trying to enjoy the entire museum in one day-which is a tall order!  We made it through most of the museum mess free until we walked down to the water zone.  Both Daxton and Emma thought that wading in the water was the only effective way to retrieve the balls they were playing with.

We tried to dry them off upstairs in the wind and energy exhibit but they weren't loving the hurricane winds we were blowing at them.

The giant Light-Brite wall though was a huge success.  How cool would it be to have that in your bedroom?!

We had planned on it being cold outside and were pleasantly surprised that we could play without freezing!  The kids loved the hula hoops and spent most of their time out there rolling them around the courtyard.  Even Daxton was able to roll it down the hill.

What an exhaustively fun morning!

Phone pic clean out

All right, this is strictly a phone-clean-out-random-pictures-post.  AKA proof of normal life.  I'm realizing that I'm posting fewer and fewer posts of my girls.  I think it's because I just don't spend as much time with them during the day.  I also think that I'm afraid I might embarrass them with my postings now that they're getting older.  But I'm going to make an effort to include more pictures of them.

McKenzie and Kelton really liked the job of compressing the leaves in the trashcan.  They jumped and jumped for Jeremy.  Love their smiles!

And I may receive A LOT of flack from Jeremy about actually posting this picture...but this is McKenzie and her friend, "Ruby" to came over to play this afternoon.  McKenzie went so far as to put make up on Kelton to make him look like a girl.  With his long eyelashes it made a big difference.  "Ruby" stayed in character all night.  I actually had to go as far as to say how much I missed Kelton for him to go change back into his clothes and stop the act.  I thought it was hysterical-as a one time thing.  Jeremy, the poor guy, couldn't handle it at all!

Cambrie still loves art.  I really should find her a class so that she can practice as much as she wants without interruption.  She's currently into watercolors and was painting this for a friend.

Brynlee came over to play one day and the girls wanted to make cookies.  I don't mind when Cambrie and her friends bake, I love it.  The one difference to this baking job was that once they finished they hopped on their bikes and delivered a plate of cookies to a boy!  I guess Brynlee has a crush in the neighborhood and it was a perfect opportunity to say hi.  Well, they actually doorbell ditched the cookies but it's the thought that counts.

Daxton isn't as consistent as Kelton with helping me in the kitchen, but he's starting to figure it out!

We have also determined that he is still a scaredy cat and that the Jim Carrey version of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will not be watched much in this house this year.  He's terrified of the Grinch!

I've posted before about Kelton's boy friends.  The poor kid just needs more boy play time.  When Brayden came over they moved over to the bean bag and yelled, "Let's wrestle!"  It was all downhill from there; fort building, couch jumping, obstacle courses, you name it.

Here are two cute boys fresh out of the bath.  They still don't like laying down, but they are more than willing to dump cup after cup of water all over the bathroom floor.

And here's a picture of me on Sunday, finally feeling brave enough to wear my fascinator to church.  I received so many compliments and felt like a fashionista.  It was way fun!

Calvin and Hobbes Fun

It snowed again.  Not enough to make a gigantic snowman, but plenty enough to make a lot of little snowmen.  Jeremy has always had a dream to recreate a Calvin and Hobbes scene with hundreds of snowmen.  Today he came close to his goal.  When the girls came home from school he recruited them to help build his snowman army.  Once there were enough (or their hands were frozen enough), they put them all in the road to watch and see what would happen.

I admit it, I was embarrassed by my family's gimmicks, but I was still laughing.

The kids watched from inside the house and would cheer or boo depending on what happened when each car passed.  I never could figure out if they were cheering because snowmen were hit by the cars or if all the snowmen survived.  Almost all of the cars were really confused as to what they were up to.  One lady even rolled down her window and apologized.  I had to laugh because why else would we fill the road with little snowmen if not to see them smashed to smithereens?

Laundry day shenanigans

Laundry typically takes me all day on Monday.  However, there are a few perks for the boys: riding up and down the stairs in my laundry basket and playing with all of the empty laundry baskets.  Caught these two boys having fun while I was busy doing boring mom stuff.

Soccer season wrap up

One more season of fall soccer is complete. I was just happy that it was a nice warm day!

This is what happens when your shot is so powerful it shoots through the goal.

Cambrie has had a great year in the competitive league this year.  The competition is definitely tougher, but that means the girls are tougher now too.  I like seeing them starting to work together as a team as they improve their own skills.  Cambrie's coach has her practicing different positions so she is always learning something new.

She had a surprise visitor for her last game of the season, Mr. Riley, her teacher from school came to support her.  She was so surprised to see him that it took her awhile to recognize him.  He has been an amazing teacher for her and I'm grateful for all that he does for his students.

Daxton kept busy this game by playing with stickers.  It was so windy the stickers continually blew off his face!

The wind also made it really hard for Tiempo because it kicked up just in time to blow every kick towards their keeper the second half.  They ended up with an even season 4-4.  I'm excited to see what they can do come spring.
