Broomfield Days Parade

I can't believe that we've lived in Broomfield for 16 years and have never gone to the Broomfield Days Parade. I feel like it's a horrible failure on my part as someone who LOVED Strawberry Days growing up. I swear we went to the parade, or the carnival, or the concerts, or the rodeo every year. And I have not once taken my kids to their home town festivities. That changed this year as both McKenzie and Kelton were in the parade.

McKenzie was walking with the cheerleaders and was one of the first groups to pass. We were lucky that we were on the right side of the road to see her. Seriously, she was glowing. She looked so happy out there cheering for Legacy. Ah! Cannot get over how beautiful she is!

Kelton was able to walk with Westlake as part of the cross country team. The little punk almost didn't hear us as we were screaming his name. Hey dude! Look over hear! He smiled sheepishly and waved as he passed. It brought back so many memories going to a little parade like this and I had a great time that morning watching my kids march. Daxton had a great time accumulating as much candy as he possibly could!

Jess's Half

Earlier this spring Jess said that she wanted to train for a half marathon. She signed up and did all of the training she needed to be ready. When the time came, she actually ended up injured and in the hospital, so she needed to choose a different race. Luckily she found one locally that was perfect. Her friends spent the night so we would all be ready bright and early to cheer her on.

Jeremy, Daxton, and I took our bikes so we could cheer for her along the whole course. She looked so smiley the entire run, even I was impressed by her positivity.

Her goal was to go under 2:00 and she did that easily. Great job Jess!

Final Mustang Mile

In case you're wondering, no I'm not okay that this is our last Mustang Mile. I've been cheering kids running around the peanut for the last 15 years. Knowing that this chapter is about to close in our lives is weird, so weird.

Lucy and Dax lining up for their sixth Mustang Mile together.

As a big bad fifth grader, Daxton's grade was able to go first. Originally he was hoping to take one of the top places. But unfortunately he was still recovering from his bout of bronchitis and couldn't run as hard as he normally can. That's ok. We'll cheer you on no matter how fast you are going.

McKenzie and I both ended up volunteering for the event. She makes a safety vest look good doesn't she?

Jess showed up just in time for the kickball games against the teachers. The teachers win every year, but that doesn't stop the students from their untethered optimism that this will be the year they will win. Daxton was the very last kid to go. He was hoping for a grand slam to bring the score a little closer together. He managed to kick in two runs which was pretty good, just not good enough to close the gap. Sorry kids, the teachers won again.

Kelton was around volunteering for National Honor Society too. He, Parker, and Tai were on bouncy castle duty. They did great and ended up staying to hang out most of the night.

It was a fun evening, and I am grateful for all of the memories we've had at this event.

Windsor Balloon Fest

I almost totally forgot about the balloon festival in Windsor. But luckily Jess happened to find the pictures from last year and it reminded me that we needed to go again. So we woke up before dawn and drove an hour to watch these giant balloon fly into the sky. This year there were a couple of dog ones that made us giggle. I still think I'm partial to the classic colorful balloons and the whimsey they carry, but I loved them all.

On the way home we let the kids have the best seat in the house while we made our way out of the park.

We also took advantage of the fact we passed right by Buccee's. Jess definitely needed that crazy experience to take home with her!

Livin it up

I am actually getting photographic proof of existence and fun from Cambrie this year! Oh that makes my momma heart happy! Something has shifted in her world where she loves hanging out with friends, going to events, and being social. "I have friends!" she tells me excitedly.

All geared up for a game at Ross Aide. Next year she's going to actually get one of the student season passes because she's had so much fun this season.

I mean, when this photo makes the front page of the student newspaper you know you're doing something right!

Cam and Donna hanging out at her apartment.

Shanon and Cam getting ready to go out.

I obviously still stalk her on Insta, because you know, I'm her mom. I snag the fun rugby posts whenever they're uploaded.

But really, this team has been GOLDEN and I am so grateful that Cambrie found her people.
