Misc. May

This is what church looked like today.  I love their little bodies and how they both still fit on my lap.  Sometimes I don't want them to grow up.

Kelton simply loves taking pictures with Moki.  These two were watching me sew on their little perches.

It is time to paint the house, and McKenzie was helping me decide what color we should use.  While I normally don't take pictures of drying paint, the blossoming tree behind McKenzie was too beautiful to pass up.

Took Moki through his first car wash.  He was much more comfortable on my lap than on the seat next to me.  And while he never cried, he was definitely curious about the whole adventure.

I was trying to be artsy and cool.  The shadows in my bedroom this morning just looked cool.

The time has come for me to learn how to do a flying mount in my races.  I spend one morning learning how to place the elastics on my shoes and clip into them as I rode.  I only fell once, which was better than I was expecting.

On one of our walks with Moki we stopped to play at the park.  This swing makes a fabulous pirate ship!

Jeremy and Cambrie were returning some bikes to a friend.  I don't know what about watching the two of them ride together struck me, but it made my heart happy.

Sarlacc Attack 50k

Jeremy was asked by some of the guys in the ward, including Anthony Shontz, Brian Schramm, Ken Carlson, and Chuck Skinner among others, to go down and race the Sarlacc Attack with them in Grand Junction.  These guys have been into mountain biking for a couple of years and have kind of chosen their favorite adventures.  When Jeremy joined them on a training ride he realized just how long he's been out of the game.  The bikes these guys were riding were insane!  First of all they cost more than our TT bikes, and come with all the bells as whistles including the drop seat and other fancy tricks that I don't know about.  Luckily Anthony had a spare bike that Jeremy could use for this race as his was a little dated and not nearly as much fun to ride. Not knowing anything about the ride except that it was supposed to take them about four hours, I just crossed my fingers than Jeremy and the others wouldn't crash.

There was a lot that was different from what we're used to at the triathlon scene.  First of all there were Skittles at the aid stations.  Second, Jeremy realized very quickly that all of his nutrition has to be liquid because he couldn't take his hands off his handle bars to eat.  The course he said was incredible and some of the most fun he's ever had.  He also said he's never ridden anything so steep or technical in his life.  There were a couple of times where he realized that he didn't have any room for mistakes or else the ensuing crash would really hurt.  He was having a great time and doing really well with his placement until just a few miles from the finish line when his legs decided to cramp up in the most painful way.  Whether it was the general fatigue or the technique riding through that particular streambed he legs didn't want to play anymore.  He had to get off and massage the life back into them before he could finish.  He came home so happy.  I have a feeling that a new mountain bike might be on his next gift wish list.

Soccer Season wrap up

This soccer season seemed to fly by.  Before we knew it, it was Kelton's last game.  It was a good season of growth for him, and he even tried his hand a keeper during some of the games.  He has moments of greatness both on the field and in the goalie box.  He had the best attitude after every game, win or lose, and just generally had so much fun out there on the field.

After his final game we went to get ice-cream with a few of his teammates.  What goofballs!

Monkeys Visiting the Zoo

I was lucky enough to get to chaperone a group of boys from Kelton's class at their field trip to the zoo.  I don't know who the wild animals were, those in the enclosures or those wearing tie-dye shirts!  All four of the boys were so excited to see the animals that it made the entire day such a great experience.

We went around the entire zoo on a hunt for monkeys.  Apparently they are scattered everywhere there and we found them all.

I don't get to do this kind of thing as much with my boys as I did with my girls when they were this age, and I was so grateful to have a trip to the zoo with this little monkey.

Legacy Soccer

This soccer season was one of the best soccer seasons Cambrie has ever had.  She bonded so quickly with this group of girls and they had such a fantastic season finishing at 8-3-1.  Their last three games were actually mercy rule finish because they were so far ahead.  Watching them play was so much fun. These girls were good!  Cambrie improved by leaps and bounds and is already planning on how to make that JV team next year.

The season wrapped up with a banquet for all of the teams.  First of all I was impressed by how festive the committee decorated the school cafeteria.

Secondly I was floored by how happy Cambrie was.  I had the perfect seat to spy on her while she was chatting with her friends.  And while I tried to covertly snap a picture of that beautiful girl, she spotted me.  I have no regrets.  Look at her!  I couldn't help myself.

We had dinner, awards and presentations throughout the night.  I was thinking about how this night is going to look in three short years when Cambrie is the one graduating and I'm not ready to go there yet.

I love seeing this girl thrive. #SkoBoltz

Meanwhile in Colorado

It was a rough week for Jeremy and I to be gone in Mallorca. Daxton had his kindergarten learning night.

Kelton had second grade marketplace, baseball tryouts, and soccer tryouts.

McKenzie had two different tryouts at two different gymnastics gyms, and had to teach her YW lesson at church. Cambrie had soccer tryouts for next season, and orchestra tryouts. To say it was a tough week for the grandparents would be an understatement.

They managed to get Stockton and Pippa to come out for part of the week to share in some of the chaos. And from the looks of it, it looks like they had a blast like always. They made a couple Costco runs, Chick-fil-A runs, and got some new little toys to play with. I was sad I missed all of these fun events for the kids, but I was relieved that someone was there taking care of them. It looks like all of the festivities were huge hit!
